The capital of the UAE, Abu Dhabi is often overlooked in favour of its glittering, ultra-modern neighbour Dubai. However, Abu Dhabi’s more traditional architecture and way of life makes it a fascinating place to discover.

How to get from Abu Dhabi Airport to Abu Dhabi?

Abu Dhabi is about 22 miles (34.8 km) from Abu Dhabi Airport, and the quickest and easiest way to get there is with a pre-booked airport transfer from HolidayTaxis. Avoid the hot queues or delays for local taxis, when you book one of our reliable and affordable private vehicles.

Things to see and do in Abu Dhabi

The city’s main sights include the stunning Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, a huge and extravagant place of worship that is open to visitors, the billion dollar Emirates Palace, filled with crystal chandeliers, the Louvre Abu Dhabi, and its collection of world-class art, plus the Heritage Village.

Top attractions

Abu Dhabi is a beach city, with some beautifully spotless stretches of white sand. Corniche Beach is a Blue Flag beach right in the centre of the capital, and has a lifeguard on duty throughout the day. Another must-see beach is Saadiyat, home to nesting turtles.

If you’re looking for something a little less sedate, head over to Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, where you can ride the world’s fastest roller coaster, one of 5 at the park, or have a Ferrari Driving Experience.

Best restaurants

Reportedly Abu Dhabi’s best spot for a tasty shawarma is Bait El Khetyar which does a range of sandwiches and dishes, as well as homemade hummus and labneh, which must be tried while you’re here. Another good restaurant for some tasty traditional fare is Mezlai, where organic and locally sourced ingredients make up a menu of classic Emirati food. For something a little more international, Butcher & Still is an old fashioned American steakhouse with excellently prepared dishes.

When to go?

The best weather can be found in the winter, when it’s neither too humid nor too hot. A visit in spring or autumn offers fairly pleasant weather as well, without too many crowds.

Types of HolidayTaxis transfer vehicles
March 31, 2023

At HolidayTaxis, we recognize that every traveler is different and may have their own preferences and requirements for their airport transfers. To accommodate this, we offer a diverse range of transfer vehicles for our customers to choose from, each with its own set of benefits and advantages.

For example, if you're traveling in a large group, our minibus or shared airport shuttle transfers might be the best option for you, as they can comfortably accommodate a larger number of passengers and their luggage. On the other hand, if you're traveling with just one or two companions, a private car may be more suitable for you as they offer a more intimate and personalised experience.
