How long does it take to get to La Herradura?

It takes 60 minutes to get from Malaga Airportto La Herradura when you pre-book one of our premium private taxis direct to your hotel door. Alternatively, if you’re looking for a purse-friendly transport option, our affordable shuttle transfers will get you there in 80 minutes.

Why visit La Herradura?

La Herradura, on the stunning Costa Tropical coast, may be the top tourist destination in the area, however it is less well-known than its neighbours along the Costa del Sol. A pretty village of white-washed villas along one of Spain’s prettiest bays, it’s a town surrounded by beautiful nature and explorable countryside. However, you’ll still find a good choice of amenities, bars and restaurants.

Things to do

There’s plenty here for the outdoors type of person, with rugged hills for hiking, the great Sierra Nevada is just nearby, and lots of options to get out on the water. Try a new watersport such as windsurfing or diving or take a boat tour of the coast. For adrenaline-fuelled tours of the countryside, take an off-road expedition with a 4x4.

Around La Herradura itself there are a few things to see, such as the San José church, or you can go shopping along the seafront on Paseo Andrés Segovia, where you’ll also find various bars and cafes.

Nearby beaches

The beach here is a 2 km stretch of sand that’s perfect for swimming and sunbathing. The waters around here are home to a fantastic array of sea life, making it a very popular location for diving and snorkelling. For a bit of variety, however, there are a choice of different beaches and coves on either side of the resort.

Eating out

One of the most popular places to eat is at the bars (‘chiringuitos’) on the beach where you can try some tasty tapas and Andalusian specialties. Two of the best, at either end of the beach, are Chambao de Vincente and Chambao de Joaquin that serve up traditional barbecued fish dishes.

When to visit

The best time to visit if you enjoy a party is during August, when you can visit nearby Granada for the vibrant August Carnival which takes place here every year. The area enjoys good weather all year round, with lots of days of sunshine, but April to September is a great time for a visit.

Types of HolidayTaxis transfer vehicles
March 31, 2023

At HolidayTaxis, we recognize that every traveler is different and may have their own preferences and requirements for their airport transfers. To accommodate this, we offer a diverse range of transfer vehicles for our customers to choose from, each with its own set of benefits and advantages.

For example, if you're traveling in a large group, our minibus or shared airport shuttle transfers might be the best option for you, as they can comfortably accommodate a larger number of passengers and their luggage. On the other hand, if you're traveling with just one or two companions, a private car may be more suitable for you as they offer a more intimate and personalised experience.
