How to get from Heraklion Airport to Malia

Malia is a modern town, offering top-class nightlife and lots of fun activities for groups and families. Known as Crete’s ‘party capital’, it’s a popular place for sun, sea and dancing. But it also offers a bit of culture and an old town to explore.

The beaches are a huge draw here, with a total of five kilometres of golden sands, all dotted with beach bars and restaurants. Glozanie Beach is the top spot for jet-skis and banana boat fun, Sun Beach has a kid’s lido and Potamos Beach is a more peaceful area for relaxing in the sun.

Discover some of Crete’s history with a visit to the Minoan palace ruins, one of the largest ancient palaces on the island and former royal family summer home.

Just a 45 minute taxi ride away is Heraklion, the historic capital of Crete. There is plenty of sightseeing to be done here, including the Vezir Mosque and the Koules Venetian fortress. From here you can also take a boat excursion to the islands of Rhodes and Santorini.
