Things to do in Alvor

The Algarve is known for its fantastic beaches, and those at Alvor are no exception. Set on the edge of a lagoon, Blue Flag listed Torralta beach, provides shallow waters which are ideal for families with children. It’s a popular spot for kitesurfing, plus there are regular boat and catamaran tours around the Ria Formosa lagoon. The evenings here are a relaxed affair, with a few bars offering drinks, and livelier nightlife is found a little further inland.

Alvor is a great place to pick up souvenirs and gifts, such as locally made pottery and embroidery. For more shopping opportunities, there is a shopping centre and a daily market nearby Portimao. Other nearby places to visit are the Slide and Splash Waterpark at Albufeira, for a fun-filled family day out.

Popular restaurants

Alvor has plenty to offer in terms of restaurants, and most of the popular places to eat can be found near the lagoon. One of these, offering great views over the water, is Restinga Ria. The Old Arch (also called O Arco da Velha) is a great place for fresh seafood and barbecued fish dishes. Or, for an extra special meal, try Restaurante Buzio, which specialises in fine dining and elegant cuisine.

When to go?

The Algarve is blessed with good weather all year round, although the summertime (July to August) is the peak season when the weather is hottest. Spring and autumn are an excellent time to visit if you prefer quieter resorts and slightly cooler temperatures.

Types of HolidayTaxis transfer vehicles
March 31, 2023

At HolidayTaxis, we recognize that every traveler is different and may have their own preferences and requirements for their airport transfers. To accommodate this, we offer a diverse range of transfer vehicles for our customers to choose from, each with its own set of benefits and advantages.

For example, if you're traveling in a large group, our minibus or shared airport shuttle transfers might be the best option for you, as they can comfortably accommodate a larger number of passengers and their luggage. On the other hand, if you're traveling with just one or two companions, a private car may be more suitable for you as they offer a more intimate and personalised experience.
