Things to do in Ferragudo

Ferragudo is blessed with calm waters, sheltered by the walls of Portimao’s harbour, which makes it a very popular spot for families, as well as windsurfers and holidaymakers looking to do watersports. Boat trips and tours are also very popular, especially those that follow the river up to Silves, or head out to the caves for dolphin watching.

There are various places to go shopping for souvenirs, such as Ferragudo’s signature ceramics, embroidered linen or woven rush baskets. For a day trip out of the resort, head to nearby Portimao or take the kids to ‘Aqualand’, ‘Slide and Splash’ or ‘Zoomarine’; which are some of the best waterparks in the Algarve.

Popular restaurants

Some of the resort’s best restaurants can be found around Praca Rainha Dona Leonor, the main square; this popular place to dine has menus offering fresh fish and views out over the river. Two other, highly recommended restaurants are A Ria, where your fish is barbecued in front of you, and Sueste, which also specialises in Portuguese grilled dishes.

Festivals in Ferragudo

Alongside all the usual Portuguese celebrations, there are a couple of local festivities that are worth a visit if you are in Ferragudo at the time. In July, Club Nau hosts a three day jazz festival, with lots of food and drink on offer. In August, the Festa da Nossa Senhora da Conceição religious procession takes to the streets, celebrating Ferragudo’s patron saint.

At HolidayTaxis, we recognize that every traveler is different and may have their own preferences and requirements for their airport transfers. To accommodate this, we offer a diverse range of transfer vehicles for our customers to choose from, each with its own set of benefits and advantages.

For example, if you're traveling in a large group, our minibus or shared airport shuttle transfers might be the best option for you, as they can comfortably accommodate a larger number of passengers and their luggage. On the other hand, if you're traveling with just one or two companions, a private car may be more suitable for you as they offer a more intimate and personalised experience.
