Things to do
One of the main reasons visitors come to Lagos is for its beautiful beaches and coastline. There are small sandy coves, wide sweeping beaches, sandstone cliffs, caves and sea arches to explore. One of the most popular attractions is the Ponta da Piedade cliff formations, while the beaches of Meia Praia, Porto de Mós and Praia da Dona Ana are popular sunbathing and surfing spots.
There are plenty of places around the resort to visit, such as Sagres, Silves, Luz and Portimão. Kids will love a day trip to the Lagos Zoo, which features a petting farm for small children to enjoy. The Luso Aventura, high ropes centre, is also great for forest adventures and excursions.
Eating out
Lagos has lots of fantastic authentic Portuguese cuisine on offer plus plenty of fresh seafood dishes. Rice stews are a local favourite but there is also a wide choice of international food on offer too. For anyone looking for a good value meal, lunchtime is the best time to eat out, when restaurants do daily specials at a lower rate.
Nightlife
Lagos is an excellent place for a night out, with an array of bars and places to party along the main streets, many of which are open into the early morning. The leading club in town is the Grand Cafe, which stays open until 5 am. Two more popular bars are Joe’s Garage and Bon Vivant; Joe's Garage gets pretty busy on the weekends while Bon Vivant has a great rooftop terrace.

Try some of the local tapas at Cervejaria Dois Irmãos, taste some excellent seafood at O Camilo (which has excellent views from the top of the cliffs) or feast on hearty meals at traditional restaurant A Forja.
