Things to do

The peaceful resort of Playa Barca is about 4 km from Costa Calma, located next to the glorious golden sandy beach of Sotavento and backed by mountain peaks. It’s also a popular destination for watersports, where the clear waters are ideal for diving and snorkelling and the waves make great conditions for surfing and windsurfing. Other popular activities include stand up paddle boarding, sailing and kitesurfing.

Thanks to the sheltered beach which fills with water at high tide, creating a wave-free pool, Playa de la Barca is also a top choice for children who can paddle here. The beach is also well supervised with lifeguards during the summer months. After a day at the beach, you can relax at one of the neighbouring bars or cafes for some refreshment!

Top attractions

Costa Calma’s main attraction is its beach, Playa de Sotavento, which offers 30 kilometres of sand with child-friendly waters. The annual windsurfing championships draw in both competitors and spectators alike to this part of the Canary Islands every July. You’re also not to far away from some of the island’s best beaches, located on the Jandia Peninsula, such as Playa Mal Nombre and Playa de Esquinzo.

For a family day out, why not visit the popular Oasis Park, a well-maintained zoo with lots of animals to see as well as activities for the kids.

Best restaurants

Restaurante La Falúa is a good choice for tasty, healthy food in decent sized portions and at good prices. For local dishes, try Ramón Restaurante which overlooks the ocean, or you could try the excellent which serves up some fantastic fish dishes and desserts.

Types of HolidayTaxis transfer vehicles
March 31, 2023

At HolidayTaxis, we recognize that every traveler is different and may have their own preferences and requirements for their airport transfers. To accommodate this, we offer a diverse range of transfer vehicles for our customers to choose from, each with its own set of benefits and advantages.

For example, if you're traveling in a large group, our minibus or shared airport shuttle transfers might be the best option for you, as they can comfortably accommodate a larger number of passengers and their luggage. On the other hand, if you're traveling with just one or two companions, a private car may be more suitable for you as they offer a more intimate and personalised experience.
