What to do in Sığacık?

Sığacık is a beautiful, peaceful harbour town, with old city walls, nestled on the south coast of Turkey in the province of Izmir. The resort is home to a wonderful array of boutique shops with all sorts of handmade items for sale. There is a popular Sunday market, in the old castle, with a colourful eclectic mix of products to admire and purchase. There are a good range of fish restaurants by the harbour and others dotted around the town.

The immaculate Teos Marina is one of 14 marinas in the world which has been awarded the Blue Flag certificate. Climb the hidden stairs to Sığacık castle, locally known as Sığacık Kalesi, located at the harbour. The triangular structure was built using stones from the ancient city of Teos and writings from this time are still evident on the walls.

There are a total of 11 Blue Flag beaches, 9 of which are public in the Seferihisar area. Akkum is a good beach for children with all the usual facilities and clean, calm waters, plus trees at the back for natural shade. Mukka beach is a lot smaller and can get crowded and as such, quite lively. 2 km south of Sığacık is Ekmeksiz beach which is far more basic with little to no facilities, so not great for families.

Seferihisar Mill, is a historical landmark well worth a visit for its elevated location and impressive views.
