What to do in Kardámena?
Located on the southern coast of Kos is the resort town of Kardámena. The beach is long but narrow, meaning there is not far to walk to reach the water. It is lined with a good choice of bars offering food and drink. The clear, calm water is perfect for snorkelling as it is brimming with marine life.
There is a children's playground at the port, from here you can catch a boat to the volcanic island of Nisyros.
For something a little different book a paragliding trip at the Kardámena Water Sports Centre, with friendly, helpful staff and amazing views you are bound not to be disappointed.
The Temple of Apollo is a wonderful historical site just south of the town, best to visit early in the morning or evening to avoid the midday heat. Further inland is the hilltop ruin of Antimachia, a 14th-century castle, well worth an explore.
Approximately 3 km along the coast is the Aquatica water park with some brilliant slides and excellent facilities, a fun afternoon for all the family.
