Things to do
Start your visit with a tour of the busy, buzzing Market Square. Right in the heart the of UNESCO-protected Old Town of Krakow, it’s the best spot for a coffee, people watching and seeing the beautiful architecture. High on the list of places to see and visit is Wawel Castle, once the home of many Polish kings and queens, Wawel Cathedral and St Mary’s Basilica, with its iconic redbrick twin spires.
If you’re staying for longer than the weekend then popular day trips from the city include the Wieliczka Salt Mines, famous for their stunning underground tunnels and complete with a breathtaking subterranean cathedral made entirely from salt. You can also take a guided tour of Auschwitz, easy to access by coach or taxi from the city centre, which offers an insight into the country’s dark past. If you are keen to find out more, Oskar Schindler’s Factory (now a museum), the former Gestapo Headquarters and the Galicia Jewish Museum, all located in Krakow itself, are worth a visit.
What to do in Krakow at night
Poland is famous for its vodka, available in many different varieties and flavours. Visit one of the unique shot bars, where you will find a huge range of delicious flavoured vodkas to try, from mint or pepper to cherry or hazelnut. Two of the most popular bars are Pijalnia and BaniaLuka, where you can find drinks from just €1.
Another option is the Wódka Cafe Bar, where you can try some vodka cocktails. The Movida Cocktail Bar is another hugely popular choice for cocktail lovers. Four Music Club is a top spot for a wild night out and is the perfect cross between a cool underground bar and nightclub. Or for a more relaxed atmosphere, visit one of the oldest bars in the Kazimierz district, Alchemia.
If you’re visiting as a larger group, or enjoying a hen or stag do, you may want to take part in one of the many pub crawls. Benefit from the knowledge of a local guide who will take you to all the very best venues, avoid the tourist traps and offer tips on your stay.
Tips for a night out in Krakow: Don’t drink in public. Unlike in other European countries, drinking on the streets here is forbidden and can land you a hefty fine. Be sure to tip the bar staff as tipping in Poland is common practice, and means you’ll get better service. At the end of the night, rather than going home with the usual kebab, try some of the local Polish pierogi (dumplings) at one of the many all-night pierogi shops like 24Pierogi.
Best restaurants
Polish food is very tasty, so don’t miss the chance to try some while you’re here. Pod Aniolami is a hidden gem of a restaurant with a medieval atmosphere and is located in the gothic cellars of a 13th-century building. Another option for good old fashioned Polish food is Pod Wawelem-Kompania Kuflow, where you can enjoy litre glasses of beer alongside your hearty meal.
For something a little more modern, Café Oranzeria offers stunning panoramic views of the old town from its trendy rooftop location. Top end restaurant Starka is also a popular choice for high class local cuisine, matched with the restaurant’s famous homemade flavored vodkas.

At HolidayTaxis, we recognize that every traveler is different and may have their own preferences and requirements for their airport transfers. To accommodate this, we offer a diverse range of transfer vehicles for our customers to choose from, each with its own set of benefits and advantages.
For example, if you're traveling in a large group, our minibus or shared airport shuttle transfers might be the best option for you, as they can comfortably accommodate a larger number of passengers and their luggage.
