How to get from Krakow Airport to Wieliczka

Pre-book your Krakow Airport transfer to Wieliczka with HolidayTaxis and start your trip to Poland with a smile. We offer a door to door, private taxi service to the town of Wieliczka and the surrounding area, for a comfortable and affordable start to your stay. You’ll be met on arrival by your professional driver, who will assist you with your luggage before driving you safely to your hotel door.

Things to do

The town of Wieliczka is best known for its 13th-century salt mine, complete with an underground chapel which has been carved out of the rock. However, visitors will also find a few places to visit above ground, with some attractive buildings and great restaurants to choose from.

Enjoy some sightseeing around town, starting at the old town square. Here you’ll find St. Clement's Church, home to one of the most treasured monuments in Wieliczka, the tomb chapel of Barbara and Władysław Morsztyn. From the square, you can also see the bright orange exterior of the Przychocki Palace.

Other attractions in the area include the lesser known Bochnia Mine, another salt mine which actually predates Wieliczka Salt Mine. It now houses a new “Underground Multimedia Exhibition”, accompanied by holographs of Polish kings and monks who explain the history of the mine. Don’t miss the underground train ride, as well as a tour of the tunnels, underground chapels and statues.

What to do in Krakow at night

The main reason people visit the town is to see the Wieliczka Salt Mine. One of Poland’s most popular attractions, the mine is split over nine levels, some as deep as 327m underground. Guided tours will take you through the labyrinth of tunnels and chambers, let you have a go at being a miner for a day and visit the incredible chapel.

You can also enjoy a treatment at the Wieliczka Underground Health Resort. After the tour, take a short walk to the Saltworks Castle & Museum, which was made a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2013.

Best restaurants

You can even eat underground at the Wieliczka Salt Mine with a visit to the Miner’s Tavern, in the Budryk Chamber, or the bar in the Drozdowice Chamber. Expect typical Polish specialities, such as pork dishes and dumplings.

In town, Restauracja Kopalnia Smaku comes recommended as a great spot for local food, as well as a choice of craft beers, and all at a great price. If you fancy something else for a change, why not treat yourself to a homemade pizza at Pizzeria Pepe Roni.

At HolidayTaxis, we recognize that every traveler is different and may have their own preferences and requirements for their airport transfers. To accommodate this, we offer a diverse range of transfer vehicles for our customers to choose from, each with its own set of benefits and advantages.

For example, if you're traveling in a large group, our minibus or shared airport shuttle transfers might be the best option for you, as they can comfortably accommodate a larger number of passengers and their luggage. On the other hand, if you're traveling with just one or two companions, a private car may be more suitable for you as they offer a more intimate and personalised experience.
