What to do in Tinajo?
Tinajo, located in the central-western part of the island of Lanzarote, is quieter than its neighbouring districts and has some impressive examples of Canarian architecture. The pretty main square ‘Plaza de San Roque’, is colourfully adorned with plants and flowers, and is home to the church of San Roque. The village of Tiagua has the biggest attraction in the area, the Museo Agricola el Patio, which narrates the islands agricultural past.
Every 15th of September the village of Mancha Blanca has a colourful Festival of our Lady of Los Dolores, where as many as 50 000 locals from across the island come together to celebrate. There is also a weekly agricultural market every Saturday morning, where one can buy products from the areas of cattle farming and agriculture.
The Natural Volcano Park is a fascinating place to visit with incredible scenery, exciting trails and the Caldera Blanca volcanic crater plus The Volcán del Cuervo.
Nearby beaches include Playa de San Juan (19 minutes by car) and neighbouring Famara (18 minutes) which is popular with windsurfers.
