What to do in Can Picafort?
The family-friendly seaside village of Can Picafort is located on the northern coast of Mallorca, along the bay of Alcudia. The resort is especially popular with German tourists, but the bars also cater to English and Irish visitors. There is a weekly market on a Friday selling local produce and holiday souvenirs. The clear white sandy beach is the main attraction and can get busy in the summertime, while the quieter beach, Playa de Muro is a little further from the main beach and surrounded by sand dunes. For those interested in bird watching the wildlife reserve of S’Albufera is internationally renowned and consists of marsh and salt lands, with lots of birds and other animals. The Tramuntana mountain range is another great place to explore, within easy travelling distance. Water sports in the area include windsurfing, scuba diving and sailing, while other fun activities available are go-karting, pedal boats and inflatable rides. The long promenade in the resort sees its fair share of walkers, cyclists and rollerbladers, while the northern side of the island is popular with cyclists (mainly in low season). There is also an 18-hole golf course and the local vineyard on the route to Muro to enjoy.
Take a day trip to some of the nearby traditional towns for more culture and history such as Santa Margalida, Muro, Alcudia and Pollensa, plus the unspoilt beach of Son Serra de Marina, which is not too far away either.
