How to get from Malta Airport to Qawra Area

Qawra, an area on Malta’s northern coast by St Paul’s Bay, is about 13 miles (or 21 km) from Malta Airport. Get there quickly, without worrying about queueing or paying for a local taxi, by pre-booking your transfer with us at HolidayTaxis. Our door to door private service offers a Meet and Greet, where your friendly driver will be waiting for you at the airport with a sign. From here, you’ll be whisked away to start your holiday in Malta right away.

We offer a wide range of transport to suit different budgets and requirements, from our private taxi, minibus and luxury car transfer to our low cost shuttle bus service. We also provide a wheelchair adapted vehicle and child car seats for family travel.

A local bus runs to and from the airport to Qawra every hour, but you can avoid the queue, and the risk of not finding a seat, by pre-booking our very affordable, regular shuttle bus. Similarly, why waste time waiting for a local taxi? Skip the stress of finding a low cost ride and book a pre-paid taxi with us, where your driver will already be waiting for you in arrivals.

Things to see and do in Qawra

This scenic coastal area of northern Malta, complete with luxury hotels and restaurants, is a lively summer destination that also offers a place for relaxation in the winter. It has a rocky Blue Flag beach that draws in both locals and visitors looking to sunbathe and swim. Qawra also has various lido pools that are just as popular.

The beach itself has plenty of facilities, including watersports hire and activities. Have a go at jet-skiing or try out the island’s most popular water sport, scuba diving. There are lots of reefs, sealife and wrecks to discover around the bay.

Top attractions

The 16th century Qawra Tower is one of the top sights to see during your stay. This former fortress now houses a swimming pool and restaurant, offering a dramatic setting to enjoy an evening out. If it’s more culture you’re after then look no further than the old capital of Mdina, a medieval city full of beautiful architecture and stunnings views from its city walls.

Visitors can also take a boat excursion to the rocky St Paul's Island, a short 10-minute trip from Bugibba harbour. Try snorkelling around its clear waters, where plenty of fish can be spotted, and discover some of the reptile life and beautiful quartz formations.

Best restaurants

For a varied menu that will please everyone, get a table at the The Plum Tree Bar and Restaurant where you can try local dishes such as the stewed rabbit or enjoy a taste of some good old fashioned English food. For seafood, none do it better than Ocean Basket, one of the top fish restaurants on the island, while Loveage Bistro is a top choice for Maltese classics at affordable prices.

Types of HolidayTaxis transfer vehicles
March 31, 2023

At HolidayTaxis, we recognize that every traveler is different and may have their own preferences and requirements for their airport transfers. To accommodate this, we offer a diverse range of transfer vehicles for our customers to choose from, each with its own set of benefits and advantages.

For example, if you're traveling in a large group, our minibus or shared airport shuttle transfers might be the best option for you, as they can comfortably accommodate a larger number of passengers and their luggage. On the other hand, if you're traveling with just one or two companions, a private car may be more suitable for you as they offer a more intimate and personalised experience.
