Outside of the town itself, a must-visit place for tourists to the area is the ancient Roman city of Pompeii, buried in ash by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.

Pizza originally comes from these parts, so it would be wrong to visit without trying some (they do it best after all). The harbour is one of the best spots for a slice, where you'll find some lovely family-run restaurants.
