It’s a significant hike to the castle itself with a pleasant walk through the village along cobbled streets lined with local tavernas and shops.

Skala Eressos is a popular beach due to its calm waters and stunning sunsets, with plenty of good places to eat and drink. Also, by the harbour, is Skala Kallonis beach which is quiet and picturesque with shallow waters, perfect for spotting fish.

The old castle of Mytilene is a historical site on the island and comes to life during spring when the gardens are positively blooming.

FAQs

Lesvos or Lesbos, which is correct?

Officially the island is named Lesvos because the letter ‘β’ in the Greek spelling Λέσβος is pronounced as a ‘v’ whereas the English pronounce the ‘v’ as a ‘b’ which is why it’s often seen to be spelt at Lesbos.

When is a good time to visit Lesvos?

Lesvos is sunny throughout the year due to its warm Mediterranean climate. The hottest months are July and August with daily temperatures between 26°C and 35°C. September is a bit cooler as the average temperature is 23°C, which is still very warm. If you want to enjoy a cooler climate and fewer crowds on the beach September is the best month.

How large is Lesvos?

The island of Lesvos, also named Mytilini, is the third largest Greek island, approximately 100km long and 60km wide.

Types of HolidayTaxis transfer vehicles
March 31, 2023

At HolidayTaxis, we recognize that every traveler is different and may have their own preferences and requirements for their airport transfers. To accommodate this, we offer a diverse range of transfer vehicles for our customers to choose from, each with its own set of benefits and advantages.

For example, if you're traveling in a large group, our minibus or shared airport shuttle transfers might be the best option for you, as they can comfortably accommodate a larger number of passengers and their luggage. On the other hand, if you're traveling with just one or two companions, a private car may be more suitable for you as they offer a more intimate and personalised experience.
