What to do in Riga

Riga is characterised by its charming architecture, a mix of art nouveau painted buildings and medieval streets. The main sights include the magnificent House of the Blackheads, in Town Hall Square, the Three Brothers buildings, the Freedom Monument and the views from St Peter’s church. You can also enjoy a walk around Bastejkalna Parks, which is particularly beautiful when covered in snow in the winter.

It’s a small city, so one of the best ways to see it is on foot. You can find a few free tours (Riga Free Tours or Tours in Riga) that will show you the hidden gems and explain some of the city’s intricate history.

To get a real understanding about the city, and the country, head to the the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia and the KGB museum, both of which are fascinating places to visit. You can also visit the Riga Ghetto and Latvian Holocaust Museum, a short tram ride from the city centre.

You won’t know it, but Latvian beer is some of the best in the world. Beer lovers will find a host of microbreweries, such as the fantastic Labietis Brewery, serving beers they’ve never tasted before. Folkklubs ALA Pagrabs is a favourite bar for visitors looking to try some traditional Latvian food. The underground bar cellar bar also hosts folk nights and dances. Try some of the famous Black Balsam while you’re there. You can pick up some food and drink to take home with you at the enormous central market. Or, if it’s more views you’re after then take the lift to the top of the Radisson Blu hotel, where you’ll find the Skyline Bar. The bar itself is nothing special, but the views are unparalleled.

March 31, 2023

At HolidayTaxis, we recognize that every traveler is different and may have their own preferences and requirements for their airport transfers. To accommodate this, we offer a diverse range of transfer vehicles for our customers to choose from, each with its own set of benefits and advantages.

For example, if you're traveling in a large group, our minibus or shared airport shuttle transfers might be the best option for you, as they can comfortably accommodate a larger number of passengers and their luggage. On the other hand, if you're traveling with just one or two companions, a private car may be more suitable for you as they offer a more intimate and personalised experience.
