Where is Langkawi Airport?
Langkawi International Airport (LGK) is located in Padang Matsirat, on the largest island in the archipelago of Langkawi. The airport is the main gateway to Langkawi and also serves the Malaysian state of Kedah.
What to do in Langkawi
Langkawi is an archipelago of 99 islands, adjacent to the border of Thailand. The most popular beach is Pantai Cenang, featuring fine, powdery white sand on the southwestern tip of the island. If it’s quiet relaxation you’re looking for then peaceful Tanjung Rhu in the north is the beach for you. You can always try snorkelling, diving, jet skiing or take a boat cruise or excursion to a nearby island.
Many visitors come here to discover some of the wonderful wildlife, such as pythons in the Kilim Karst Geoforest Park and bat colonies in the limestone caves, and to explore the rainforests. You can get a guided tour of the jungle and mountains with companies such as Dev’s Adventure Tours and Junglewalla who will lead you through the dense foliage on Gunung Raya and Gunung Machinchang mountains and take you to the Telaga Tujuh waterfalls.
You can also see some of the island by yourself. Take the Langkawi Skycab cable car to the viewing platform at the top of Gunung Machinchang, take one of the glass-bottomed gondolas through the treetops or walk across the 125 metre Sky Bridge which spans a chasm between two mountain peaks.
