Entry requirements

• You don’t need a visa to travel to Senegal. If you would like to stay longer than 3 months, you’ll need to register with the local authorities to obtain a ‘Carte d’Etranger’.
• Your passport needs to be valid for at last 3 months from the date of entry.
• You need to have evidence of return or onward travel.
• All travellers should be up to date with routine vaccination courses and boosters such as the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine and diphtheria-tetanus-polio vaccine.
• Make sure you have adequate travel health insurance and accessible funds to cover any medical treatment abroad.

Travelling tips

Respect local traditions, customs, laws and religions at all times. Senegal is a predominantly Muslim country. Dress and behave modestly in public outside the main tourist locations. Bars and restaurants sell alcohol, but drunkenness is considered offensive. Kissing as a greeting is acceptable, but kissing romantically in public is not.
